CHIRU Vs BALA KRISHNA

CHIRU Vs BALA KRISHNA

The film stars in Telugu Desam Party chief Chandrababu Naidu's family have rallied together to counter the growing political threat from actor-turned-politician Chiranjeevi At a closed door meeting between Naidu and the four film stars in his family on Sunday, a strategy was chalked out to take on Chiranjeevi in the next elections. The meeting was attended by popular actor Balakrishna, his brother TDP MP and actor Harikrishna and his two film star sons NTR Junior and Kalyan Ram.

Cong, TDP leaders want to join Chiranjeevi

To counter Chiranjeevi's hold over the youth in the state, Naidu asked Balakrishna, NTR Junior and Kalyan Ram to play an active role in consolidating the TDP base among the youth and the women. The three actors are likely to announce their formal entry into politics with the 'Yuva Garjana' (Roar of the Youth) rally at Guntur, to be held after Dussehra. The TDP has decided to make the rally bigger than the one organised by Chiranjeevi's supporters during his party's launch in Tirupati in August. "I am ready to any thing and go anywhere for the party which my Tataiah (grand father) had established," NTR Junior was quoted as saying at the meeting. "I am always ready to participate in any programme".

NTR's Daughter Smt.Purandareshwari Says No Clarity in Chiru's Words

N.T.R's daughter & Central Minister Smt. Purandhareshwari speaks about the Chiranjeevi's meeting on the "Praja Party" announcing day.

Smt.Purandhareshwari says that "
Chiranjeevi said that NTR inspires him to step in Politics". If Chiranjeevi really follows NTR's way, that will be good for the Andhrapradesh people, but there is no clarity in Chiranjeevi words in the meeting, nothing new about the issues mentioned and there is no strong analysis and grip in the issues explained in the meeting.

If
Chiranjeevi speaks about the problems with out showing any solutiuon and clarity, then people will not accept Chiranjeevi as their leader says Purandhareshwari.

Theme Song Of Praja Rajaym

# Praja Rajyam Party, with a white and green colour, a red sun embossed in the middle and a yellow colour was unfurled by two disabled, including a girl, who lost both her hands.

# Standing alongside the star, the two challenged persons hoisted the flag on the dais symbolizing the launch of the party.

# Speaking about the idea behind the design of the flag, Chiranjeevi said the inspiration came from the nature from the green fields and sun rise.

# “Sun is source of energy and life for all the living beings and it gives energy continuously.

# The 24 rays of sun symbolise our commitment that right from an ordinary worker to the top level, the party will work 24 hours for the people.

# Chiranjeevi said the sun also symbolizes change and revolution. White, he said was not one colour, but manifestation of several colours coming together.

# White has colour of all the people. It symbolizes clean governance and transparency”, he said.

# On the green colour, Chiranjeevi said that it was the basis of life. “It is also an acknowledgement of farmers.”

# The yellow line on the flag expresses the wish that there should be smile on every face and happiness in every home.

# On the other hand every colour also symbolizes different religion. Yellow for Hinduism, green for Islam and white for the Christianity.

# “The party should get support from every section and every person”, he said.

Launching Praja Rajyam

7:23 pm
Parting slogan
Mana Rajyam Surajyam. Swarajyam. Prajala Rajyam. Praja Rajyam!! Jai Hind!!!!

7:20 pm
All are soldiers in our party including me
All are soldiers in the war against social problems. There are no leaders in our party. All are soldiers including us. We don’t have selfishness and we don’t have fear. Hence we will win. Let us work hard to build a beautiful future. We want change. We will eliminate the poverty and bring smile among all the people of AP. Bravery and honesty are our weapons. Do not bother about people who sling mud on us. Let them discourage us. The more they discourage, the great our determination we will be.

People penned my role
Lot of writers penned many roles for me in the past for films. This new role is written by you people. And this role is going to be the one which I will live my lifetime. My life is dedicated to you people. Thank you very much. Jai Hind.

7:15 pm
The party anthem being played
After explaining about the party flag, Chiranjeevi played the anthem of Praja Rajyam party. It is accompanied by the cool visuals that support the agenda of Chiranjeevi and the concept of various ingredients embedded in the party flag.

7:10 pm
Flag is inspired by nature
Sun rise is our symbol. There are 24 rays to the sun in the flag which denotes that we spread the energy and light of sun throughout 24 hours. Red color of sun is symbol of change. White background is the mixture of vibgyor which represents people from all castes. The green streak indicates farmers. The yellow line around sun represents the smile that we will bring on the faces of every citizen. Red, White and Green represent Hindu, Christian and Muslims. Hence we are equally good for all the religions.

7 pm
The symbol is Sun
Just now the flag of Chiranjeevi Party is hoisted. The symbol is sun colored in red. The background color of flag is white. There is a streak of green symbolizing the farmers. The image of flag is something like this. There are some rays of sun in this flag. .

6:57 pm
I am for the sentiment of Telangana
Telanga has lot of cultural and historical heritage. It has natural resources and a great history. People have opinion that injustice is done to Telangana. That is because of the biased nature of the earlier governments. Telangana has ‘athma gourava samasya’. I will respect the sentiment. If we have to separate Andhra from Telangana, I am willing to cooperate.

6:55 pm
Justice to economically backward class
All the castes have people who are economically backward. There is no caste to the poor. We will recognize such people as EBC (economically backward class) and my party will support them.

6:50 pm
I am against Government selling lands
Selling lands like doing injustice to our future generations. I am completely against. Government is misusing farmer lands by grabbing from them and giving it to SEZ. I am against giving farming land to SEZ. But I am not against globalization. I want industries to come to AP. But I will give them only those lands that are not used for farming.

6:47 pm
Naxalism is a social problem
Naxalism is erupted from poor. Poor is the deep cause of youth becoming naxals. I am not looking at naxalism as a law and order issue. I look at it as social problem. I would scientifically look at the problem and debate it with intellectuals and come up with a solution.

6:45 pm
Discourage selling of alcohol
Alcohol destroys several homes in AP. The government is giving them money with schemes and taking money from them by selling liquor at the same time. We will make strong commitment towards discouraging selling of liquor.

6:40 pm
Organized corruption should go
People generally take bribes to do things that are illegal and illegitimate. But here in India, most of the officers take bribes to do their duty. I want to cleanse corruption from the top level starting from political system. Hunger, necessity and greediness are three things that drive corruption. One can cure people who are corrupt because of hunger and necessity. But we should eliminate people who do corruption because of greediness.

6:35 pm
There are people who cant get Rs.2 kg rice and who can’s afford Rs. 25 per kg
There are people who are above the social condition of availing 2/- per kg rice and who also can’t afford 25/- for a kg of rice. There are many labors and lower middle class people who are in this segment. I would bring justice to them.

6:30 pm
Farmers get top priority
Chiranjeevi spelt out Sri Sri’s poem “Kammali kolimi, Kummari chakram..” first and explained it. The farmer bachelors are not getting married because of their profession. Farmers will get the top priority.

Education is second priority
Only wealthy people are getting in to good educational institutes. Education has become business, but not the service. The economically backward people do not have money for the higher education.

Health is third priority
Poor pregnant women are giving birth to baby in the verandah of Gandhi hospital because hospital did not have bed. It is such a pathetic situation in general hospitals. Most of the people can’t office corporate hospital. The hospitals are in bad shape in villages.

6:20 pm
Party name is Praja Rajyam
People belonging to various sections of society jointly announced the name of the part in the presence of Chiranjeevi. And the party name is "Praja Rajyam". Tagline of the party is “Preme Lakshyam – Seve Margam”

We have great resources in India
I am impressed by the development and infrastructure in west countries. But we have tremendous natural and human resources. We work hard in India. But we d not have enough guidance and implementing capabilities at the organizational level. I am confident that people Andhra will help me to get me the opportunity to guide and implement the human and natural resources of us in a better way.

6:10 pm
Social justice is the party motto
The motto of our party is to have social justice. Some part of society is getting ample opportunity. Most part of the society is getting very little opportunity. My party motto is to balance the social imbalance.

6:07 pm
I represented lower strata of society
I acted as Dalit youth in my debut film Pranam Khareedu. I acted as cobbler in award winning Swayam Krushi. I did the role of Dalit IAS officer in Kondaveeti Donga. I represented Dalits in Rudraveena. I always associated with lower strata of the society because of the struggles I had gone through.

6:05 pm
I had single meal a day in beginning days of career
In my beginning days of my career I used to have single meal every day as I could not afford food for twice everyday. I need 300 rupees per month as expenses during my stay at Chennai. But I asked my parents to send only 150 rupees. I used to have meals only once and used to have water and tea during the remaining part of the day.

6:00 pm
I wore knickers in intermediate
I studied my intermediate in Sharma college of Ongole. As we could not afford pants, I had to wear knickers even in my intermediate. I had to cooperate with parents and wear knickers though I was embarrassed.

5:55 pm
I remember struggling days as kid
I was the elder son in a family of lower middle class family. I used remember the days when I had to get the groceries home by walk as we did not have enough money to travel in a rickshaw. There were times when we did not have money and we used to pool the change so that we could live for the next two days using that change.

Praja Rajyam

In true cinematic style, Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi launched his party 'Praja Rajyam' before a mammoth crowd of his fans and supporters pledging to work for social justice as its main agenda and to root out corruption.

He made the much-awaited announcement in this temple town in filmy style after a long speech and a short dialogue session with the assembled gathering. Soon after he announced the name a short song and sequence came on the giant screen behind him on the dais which the few lakh audience lapped it up enormously.

The 53-year-old matinee idol and son of a police constable outlined his party's vision in various sectors and also unveiled the party flag -- green and white with the sun in the middle - amidst rapturous applause from the huge gathering.

In his more than hour-long speech, the megastar, however, skirted thorny issues like Telangana statehood demand, naxalism and categorisation of Scheduled Castes, saying a "collective decision" would be taken on these matters after "scientific evaluation".

"On these sensitive issues, I cannot take an immediate decision. We will take inputs from intellectuals and come to a collective decision", Chiranjeevi told the gathering at the sprawling 120-acre Avilala Tank.

Chiranjeevi, a Padma Bhushan awardee, has acted in 148 films. Former President A P J Abdul Kalam had inspired him to take a plunge into politics and vowed to bring about positive change in politics.

Earlier, excited over their matinee idol's political debut, Chiranjeevi's fans went out of control at the site of the public meeting leading police to lathicharge on them. Thousands of Chiranjeevi fans, who poured in from all over Andhra Pradesh to listen to their star revealing the name and agenda of his party, swamped into the chamber which was alloted for physically challenged people. Chiranjeevi said his party would work for the empowerment of poor and weaker sections of the society. Touching upon a string of socio-economic issues, he said Praja Rajyam would accord top priority for agricultural development and welfare of farmers, primary health, education, labour welfare, opportunities for youth and women. The actor, who was the sole speaker at the more than two-hour-long meeting, also promised to come up with a clear-cut policy on regulation of liquor trade. "Fighting corruption, particularly the political corruption, will be one of our main agenda," Chiranjeevi said. "Change and Social Justice" appeared to be the mantra of mega star as he unveiled his political vision before the gathering. "Today, we are sounding the bugle for a major battle against the social ills. There are no leaders in the battle but only servants. I am your servant. We will win this battle. No one can stop us," Chiranjeevi said with a dramatic flourish.

On the raging demand for separate Telangana state, Chiranjeevi appeared to tread a cautious path. Attributing the backwardness in Telangana region to the failure of the successive governments, he said, "if the division becomes inevitable, we will co-operate and assist the process. Let us respect the sentiments of the region which has suffered neglect in all sectors."

Chiranjeevi, who hails from the backward 'Kapu' community, said his party would also work for "additional reservations" for the economically backward among the forward castes. Invoking Kalam's pet concept of PURA (Providing Urban Amenities in Rural Areas), he said Praja Rajyam would strive for realising the dream of "Gram Swaraj." Referring to the controversy over Special Economic Zones, he said his party would oppose acquisition of farm lands for SEZs.

"While we are for industrialisation, we will not allow fertile lands to be taken over in the name of development. We will also oppose selling away of government lands," Chiranjeevi said.

Chiru Is Going to Hunt the Poverty And Corruption In The State

In several of his blockbusters, Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi makes a 'grand entry', often marked by tantalizing precursors that send his fans into rapturous joy.

A similar sense of anticipation grips the political circles in Andhra Pradesh now as the actor is all set to enter politics and announce the launch of a new party this month.

Fifty-three year old Chiranjeevi, who rose from humble background to become the reigning star of Telugu cinema, is expected to announce his political plans in the third week of August which will be followed by a series of public meetings and road shows across the state.

"The announcement will be made without any fanfare. Later, a public meeting will be held in Hyderabad and Tirupati after August 15 where the party's name, agenda and programmes will be unveiled," the sources close to the actor said.

For several months now, there has been a flurry of activity in Chiranjeevi's camp with two of his brothers and brother-in-law, all connected with the Telugu cinema industry, and his close aides organizing meetings with the fans associations and people from various walks of life and training programmes for the potential cadre ahead of the party formation.

Chiranjeevi, a Padma Bhushan awardee who has acted in 148 films in his three decade long career, is among the highest paid actors in the country and has a massive following particularly among the youth.

Chiranjeevi is a hero often seen as in the mould of the late N T Rama Rao with an image of a do-gooder, kind-hearted and loving family man.

When he dons the political robes analysts feel it will be a kind of repeat of the era. NTR, the demi-God of telgu cinema, who stormed to power within nine months of floating TDP in 1983, achieving a feat that is unparallel in India's political history.

The admirers of Chiru, as Chiranjeevi is referred to in film circles, are hopeful that their hero will re-create the magic of NTR while some others argue that he lacks the charisma of NTR.

The new party plans to position itself as an alternative to Congress and TDP, the two main political formations at present, sources close to the star say.

Political analysts, however, feel that the ageing actor will find it difficult to garner support from across the communities despite considerable fan following.

However, his followers argue that his entry will alter the present political equations in the state where elections are due in May next year.

The main political players fear that their traditional support base might erode if the superstar takes the political plunge. The TDP is already reeling under widespread desertions by several frontline leaders who are said to be keenly watching moves of the star.

The left parties, who have been making efforts to forge Third Front in the state, said they would work with the actor provided he comes up with a definite set of policies and programmes.

Several senior leaders across the political spectrum have already indicated their willingness to join Chiranjeevi's party. Prominent among them are Congress MP from Narsapur Ch Harirama Jogaiah, former TDP minister K Vidyadhar Rao and former TDP MP B Nagi Reddy.

Chiranjeevi, who hails from West Godavari district in the coastal region, is seen by 'Kapus', a dominant community to which he belongs, as the best bet to fill the perceived political vacuum and end the domination of Congress and TDP in the state.
He is also being projected as a rallying point for backward classes yearning for their share of political power. As a prelude to donning the political robes, the cost-accountant turned film star has been quietly making efforts to build a larger-then-life image for himself. His recent films provide a glimpse of his political aspirations.

The titles of his recent films, loaded with political message, and the increased philanthropic activity through the blood bank he had floated years ago have not gone unnoticed in political circles.

'Born for the People' was the tagline for his 2002 film 'Indra' that deals with political violence in Rayalaseema region.

Then came 'Tagore', a year later, in which the superstar dons the role of a corruption-buster who advocates formation of anti-corruption force to wage a war against the menace.

In 'Stalin', Chiranjeevi is a man of the masses, a do-gooder who comes to aid of those in distress.

From the dusty small town of Narsapur in West Godavari district, Konidela Siva Sankara Vara Prasad, his original name, has come a long way to dominate the Telugu tinsel world.

With no family connection with the film industry, Chiranjeevi's was a lone journey from rags to riches. After graduation in Narsapur, he moved to Chennai, the hub of south Indian films, where he worked as cost accountant and enrolled himself in a film institute.

He made his debut in 1977 with 'Manavoori Pandavulu', a hugely successful film directed by Bapu. There was no looking back since then.

Chiru's New Strategy

s the launch of film actor Chiranjeevi’s political party draws closer, his managers are busy zeroing in on a ‘safe’ constituency for him to make a ‘grand entry’ into the portals of the Assembly in 2009.

Among options being actively considered are Palacole in West Godavari district, where his father-in-law and character actor, late Allu Ramalingaiah was domicile. It is also on the scanner because of the sizeable ‘Kapu’ population and the people’s response to the meeting addressed by the star’s brother K. Nagendra Babu.

In fact, Mr. Chiranjeevi’s inner circle is mulling the option of doing an NTR by contesting from one seat each from the three regions to drive home the point that his popularity spans the entire State. In their reckoning are one constituency either in Nizamabad or Karimnagar district in Telangana, and Tirupati Assembly segment or some other in Anantapur district.
Telugu Mahila president Roja, who co-starred the actor in the box office hit, ‘Mutha Maistry’, has declared that she was prepared to contest against the megastar. Ms. Roja had unsuccessfully contested from Nagari in Chittoor district on a TDP ticket in the 2004 Assembly elections.
Meetings
Meanwhile, party work too is picking up momentum and it is learnt that Mr. Chiranjeevi is holding meetings every night with the core planners including Mr. Nagendra Babu, brother-in-law Allu Aravind and advisors P. Mitra and A.P. Vittal and T.V. Rao.
When contacted, Dr. Mitra declined to divulge any details saying that none in the party was authorised to speak on policy issues and even about politics.

Sources said Dr. Mitra had dropped his proposed visit to the United States to mobilise the support of non-resident Telugus for Mr. Chiranjeevi in the North Eastern States including New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Connecticut by holding a meeting at The Royal Albert’s Palace in New Jersey. He is now leaving for London on urgent personal work and is likely to address them through video-conference.

Devendar Goud Says

Former Minister T. Devender Goud on Tuesday asserted that the movement which his party would be spearheading for carving out a separate Telangana State would be peaceful and not give scope for any violence as people of the two regions should part ways cordially like “brothers”.

Participating in a ‘Meet-the-press’ programme organised by the Andhra Pradesh Union of Working of Journalists (APUWJ), he said “there won’t be space for violence” and the party would not rouse passions by building prejudices against people from other regions.

Mr. Goud said he quit TDP not to become Chief Minister or for some position but to fight for the justice of Telangana people, who have been neglected.

Immediate focus would be on building a movement by involving the people rather than looking for winning seats.

He said that 2009 elections for Lok Sabha and Assembly would be crucial as MPs from the State would play a key role in the formation of the next government at the Centre. The situation would be favourable for Telangana in both Parliament and Assembly, he predicted.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mr. Goud lashed out at TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu and Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, saying both the leaders had hijacked their respective parties which were functioning in an undemocratic manner.

Mr. Goud was non-committal on the possibility of having an understanding with the party proposed to be launched by actor Chiranjeevi saying it would not be proper to comment without knowing its agenda. He ruled out the question of aligning with the TDP in future.

Yanamala Jumps to Chiru party ???

For the second consecutive day, TDP targeted film star Chiranjeevi’s proposed party saying it is turning out to be an outfit for sheltering political migrants.

Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, TDP Polit Bureau member Yanamala Ramakrishnudu said the proposed party appeared to be shaky going by the poor response from people and hence it was relying on seniors from other parties by desperately hosting breakfasts, luncheons and dinners to seek their support.
Otherwise, for a party that vowed to cleanse politics and give opportunity only to new entrants, there was no need to invite leaders from other parties on the sly and make promises which amounted to encouraging defections, he said.
‘No ideals’ “This shows that the party has no ideals and is scared of its future.

There is no newness as promised,” he added. Going by the tremendous public response to the party president, N. Chandrababu Naidu’s “Mee Kosam yatra”, TDP will return to power, he claimed.
To other questions, Mr. Ramakrishnudu said there was no crisis in TDP with some senior party leaders leaving. “We have emerged stronger from bigger crises in its 26-year history like in 1984 and 1995 and the same will happen now. It is like a stream that flows forever, irrespective of people joining or leaving.” He took exception to Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy celebrating his birthday and holidaying in an exotic place, at a time when the farmers in the State were reeling under low rainfall, shortage of seeds and fertilizers and power cuts. His Cabinet colleagues are not even reviewing the situation. To another question, he said the issue of Telangana would be discussed in the core committee meeting to be held after the extended State committee meeting at Khammam on July 13.

Political Migration Started

Telugu Desam MP Bhuma Nagireddy and his wife, Sobha, held discussions with their followers
at Allagadda and Nandyal on Friday, unveiling their intentions to quit the TDP.

The couple said that they had never been comfortable in the TDP, be it when the party was in power or in the opposition. “My supporters faced police action during the TDP rule. There would be no future for us and our followers in the TDP, Mr. Nagireddy is believed to have told the meeting which was out of bounds for the press at Allagadda as well as Nandyal.

The meeting was held in a godown at Allagadda, which was attended by some 5,000 supporters and in the house of his close aide, A.V. Subba Reddy, at Nandyal. Political Boss

Telugu film actor Chiranjeevi, who runs Chiranjeevi Charitable Trust, has planned to enter politics. Keeping the 2009 assembly elections in view, he is joining politics in January. Still, he has not revealed whether he wants to join any existing party or to establish his own party.

Andhra Pradesh CM Dr Y S Rajasekhar Reddy has already invited Chiranjeevi to join his Congress Party. But according to some sources, Chiru follows the footsteps of thespian NT Rama Rao, who created a record by becoming chief minister. He wants to launch his own party against TDP and Congress. His party will be a third alternative party to the ruling Congress and the main opposition TDP. And like NTR, He will bring about a great change in the state.

Chiranjeevi's fans have already started celebrations. In Tirupati, Rajahmundry and Vishakapatnam, fans burnt the fire crackers and conducted rallies.
