Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, TDP Polit Bureau member Yanamala Ramakrishnudu said the proposed party appeared to be shaky going by the poor response from people and hence it was relying on seniors from other parties by desperately hosting breakfasts, luncheons and dinners to seek their support. Otherwise, for a party that vowed to cleanse politics and give opportunity only to new entrants, there was no need to invite leaders from other parties on the sly and make promises which amounted to encouraging defections, he said.
‘No ideals’ “This shows that the party has no ideals and is scared of its future.
There is no newness as promised,” he added. Going by the tremendous public response to the party president, N. Chandrababu Naidu’s “Mee Kosam yatra”, TDP will return to power, he claimed. To other questions, Mr. Ramakrishnudu said there was no crisis in TDP with some senior party leaders leaving. “We have emerged stronger from bigger crises in its 26-year history like in 1984 and 1995 and the same will happen now. It is like a stream that flows forever, irrespective of people joining or leaving.” He took exception to Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy celebrating his birthday and holidaying in an exotic place, at a time when the farmers in the State were reeling under low rainfall, shortage of seeds and fertilizers and power cuts. His Cabinet colleagues are not even reviewing the situation. To another question, he said the issue of Telangana would be discussed in the core committee meeting to be held after the extended State committee meeting at Khammam on July 13.
